Goodbye Joey

We drove down to my grandparent’s house on Saturday to celebrate my cousin Joey’s departure. He enlisted in the Marines last year, and is off to Hawai’i. Shortly thereafter, he may meet up with the rest of his troop in Iraq. Though I did not feel great about celebrating him going off to war – there are many reasons why I do not support it – but I was celebrating with him; he was very excited. The hour after we arrived, he passed out in the bathroom from the “vapors”. So much for the excitement.

We spent about an hour trying to get in to make sure he was okay. My uncle drilled out the lock (it was a keyed lock – don’t know why), pried off the door handle, and eventually opened the door. If it were up to me, I would have kicked in the door! I saw two benefits: 1) we get to Joey much faster, and 2) I get to practice my Tae Kwon Do board-breaking skills. Oh, well…maybe next time.

We had a great time seeing everyone. My grandparents met Matteo for the first time. They loved him! No surprise there… We left at 5 pm to go pick up our new car. Yes…our new car.

On the way down my grandparents house, we saw a Honda Pilot on the freeway. It prompted us to make a few calls. We were able to catch up with a couple of dealers that still had some inventory. We talked to one dealer in Marin via email – just love BlackBerry technology – and negotiated a lower price, but while waiting for them to respond, Gilroy Honda met our price. Wow…that was easy! Not only was the purchase experience easy, but also the visit to the dealership was easy.

We love it. I am not sure what I like more: the Bluetooth technology, iPod sync or rear DVD player!

Here are a couple of pics of the boys enjoying the day.
